It was a rainy night and the few
meagre droplets of rain had become strong transparent drops, which hurt as they
fell. A figure was slightly visible - a chubby man running through the lonely
streets, covering his head with a briefcase. He turned roughly into an alley
and, a few seconds later, let out a scream.
“I told you I could find you”, said a
manly voice.
“We made a deal, you aren’t keeping
it!” exclaimed the man nervously, holding his briefcase closer to him.
“I am aware of that”, said the voice
calmly, “but you promised me information on your experiments…something you
didn’t manage to get for me this week.” He grabbed the man’s neck.
“I just couldn’t get them this time!
I can’t keep doing this, he is my friend! I can’t keep doing this to him!” He
lowered his tone.
“If you don’t want to find that
doctor of yours dead, then you’ll have to get me those experiments!” said the
man raising his voice. “Do I make myself clear?” he calmly added. The chubby
man nodded, gulping.
“Good. Now, you’ll go with your
friend and act like nothing happened. Or you know what I will do”, he said in a
threatening voice, throwing the man to the floor.
The chubby man stood up quickly and
looked for the man, but he wasn’t there anymore.
